Our Story
MISSION STATEMENT

At Home on Main Street passionately seeks useful, interesting, and earth-friendly products in the global, domestic and local environments and sells them in a setting that inspires creativity.

Customer service is our top priority and we strive to create a unique and memorable experience for each in-store and online visitor.

PHILOSOPHIES

We love the popular quote by William Morris, (1834-96) the British craftsman, designer and a founding father of the Arts and Crafts movement in England:

Have Nothing In Your Homes
That You Do Not Know To Be
Useful Or Believe To Be Beautiful

This has been our philosophy from the beginning (October 2003). Since going earth-friendly (September 2008) we have raised the bar higher. We still prefer functional, beautiful and useful items -- and we want them to be have a modern eco-sensibility.

We think William Morris' thoughts on home, spoken long ago, can still make our lives easier and a lot less stressful today.

Functional Beauty
Our buyer's checklist puts merchandise to the test before we write an order with a vendor or craftsperson. We have a strong commitment to our values and goals when seeking out new items to bring into the shop. It makes our buying trips a true adventure and ensures that we offer only the best earth-friendly products for you to select from.

Select Gifts With Confidence
We're often told that gifts purchased in our store are favorites - just the site of our logo on a bag (or box) fills the recipient with eager anticipation. That is an enormous compliment that we appreciate hearing, and we take it very serious. Nothing is nicer than giving a gift you feel really good about, and we always strive to meet your highest expectations.

Whether you look to us for the perfect gift, the finishing touch for a room - or just the right outfit, you can shop with confidence. We always do our best to ensure you are happy and satisfied with your purchases.

Read the wonderful article about the shop written by Agnes Diggs, the North County Times staff writer who passed-away in 2005.
